Sony have come up with a PS3 motion sensor controller to rival the success of the Nintendo Wii gaming technology.

A prototype motion sensor is been tested which promises to be more accurate at tracking movements than the Wii controller.  It will do this by using LEDs and a small webcam to follow the movements of the device, and as this can read more complicated light signals it will be more precise in tracking your movements and speed, especially with forward and backward movements which is where the Wii remote fails to deliver.

Microsoft is also rumoured to be launching their own motion sensing version. So far, Sony has won the bulk of pre-E3 hype, but Microsoft may still have a fewsuprises in store to boost  Xbox 360 sales. In addition, Nintendo is gearing up to launching its own Wii remote upgrade, in the form of Wii Motion Plus.

These are interesting times in the gaming world. Watch this space!

Having missed out on last years CES Vegas  show due to a fault with my alarm clock which caused me to miss my flight, I was on the ball this year with my bomb diving alarm clock. Proof (if you ever needed it) that we can’t survive with out  a few electronics & gadgets in our lives.

And this years CES Vegas was packed with some fantastic leading edge technology for the very near future. Here’s a few gadgets to wet your appetite.

Wowwee Spyball

The Spyball could be your favourite new gadget for 2009 if you want to keep an eye on things (pets or kids) or are just the voyeuristic type.

The Wowwee Spyball is a spherical video camera which shows amazing dexterity and is capable of turning 360 degrees and carrying out stealth movements to creep up on unexpected visitors.

Sony’s Touchscreen Reader
eReaders will ultimately replace the ol’ papyrus, (its just a matter of time) but it’s the Sony Reader thats taken one further step in the right direction.

Whilst the eBook reader is still undoubtedly a technology in its infancy, a touchscreen is a step in the right direction to a perfect ereader that features a full QWERTY keyboard for Wifi book downloading.

Most impressively is the fact that the machine now packs a touchscreen, for finger swiping page turning.

So what’s new with the PRS-700BC Reader compared to the previous model? Well firstly there’s more memory, which will let you store around 350 books. Secondly there’s a much needed backlight, allowing nocturnal bookworms to get their kicks.

Price yet TBC.
